Why use our CB10 Coated fasteners

CB10 Stainless steel chemical blacking offers a durable and attractive finish that will enhance the look of your project. Its non-dimensional changing, corrosion-resistant, and non-reflective - making it ideal for a wide range of industrial and commercial applications.

Our CB10 process is always applied properly and sealed appropriately, this can significantly extend the lifespan and functionality of all our stainless steel fasteners.

The process produces a very smooth and visually appealing black matt to satin finish. It's used on a multitude of applications and in many industries. The black oxide finish lasts much longer than other processes such as painting and plating.

How the CB10 four step process works

The CB10 stainless steel chemical blacking process involves the following steps:

  1. Cleaning: Parts are cleaned of oils, dirt, and oxides using alkaline cleaners and acid pickling.

  2. Activation: The surface is prepared using a solutions to ensure even oxide formation.

  3. Blacking Treatment: The parts are immersed in the CB10 chemical solution, the solution reacts with the stainless steel to create a black oxide finish.

  4. Rinsing and Sealing: The part are rinsed and sealed with oil to further enhance corrosion resistance and surface durability.

Benefits of CB10 Chemical Blacking on Stainless Steel

  • Aesthetic Appeal: The finish produces a matte to satin black finish that looks fantastic and adds an edge to a given project.

  • Corrosion Resistance: The CB10 black oxide layer applied to our stainless steel fasteners provides enhanced corrosion resistance.

  • Dimensional Stability: Since no material is deposited or removed, the dimensions of all our precision fasteners remains completely unchanged.

  • Reduced Light Reflection: The CB10 process works extremely well on projects and component applications that require low reflectivity.

  • Improved Lubrication: The CB10 porous oxide layer can hold oils, this can help to reduce friction on moving parts.

CB10 Applications

The CB10 Chemically blacked fastener range is used across a wide range of industries for both functional and decorative purposes, below are a few examples of industries using our fasteners with the CB10 process applied:

  • Prosthesis & Robotics: Used in limb replacements applications, on both powered and unpowered projects.

  • Supercars: Aesthetic trim, engine parts, and connectors.

  • Medical Application: Instruments and components that requiring non-reflective fasteners.

  • Architectural Hardware: Door handles, fasteners, and fittings.

  • Tooling and Machinery: Precision tools, dies, and measuring equipment.

  • Aerospace: For optical and non-reflective components in aircraft.

  • These are a few examples of industries we supply, there are many more.
