Carbolts Limited: Net Zero Commitment Plan
Company Overview:
We are a fastener retail and manufacturing business supplying large, medium, and small companies throughout the world. As a growing enterprise, Carbolts is committed to scaling sustainably by embedding carbon reduction and efficiency throughout our operations.
Net Zero Target:
We are committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2030 and reaching net zero emissions across our value chain by 2040.
1. Vision and Commitment
We, as a UK business working in a global market, recognise the urgent need for climate action and we are dedicated to reducing our environmental impact in line with the goals of the Paris Agreement. Our vision is to grow responsibly while contributing to a global transition to a low-carbon economy.
We commit to:
- Achieve carbon neutrality in our direct operations (Scope 1 ) by 2030.

- Our electricity consumption is purchased through Octopus Energy, and as such is sourced using 100% renewable electricity (Scope 2)

- We collaborate with our suppliers and logistics partners to reduce Scope 3 emissions and endeavour to reach full net zero by 2040.

- We regularly monitor, report, and improve our sustainability performance.
2. Current Actions and Achievements
Carbolts has already taken meaningful steps toward emissions reduction:
| Action | Impact Area | Progress |
|---|---|---|
| Direct importing from overseas manufacturers | Supply chain efficiency / reduced logistics emissions | Implemented |
| Solar power testing | Produce our own renewable energy transition | Pilot phase ongoing |
| Building insulation | Energy efficiency | Currently being installed |
| Replacement of all lighting with high-efficiency LEDs | Energy efficiency | Implemented |
These early actions demonstrate our commitment to sustainability and operational efficiency.
3. Carbon Footprint and Scope Definition
Carbolts’ carbon footprint will be categorised into the three main emission scopes:
-
Scope 1: Direct emissions from company-owned vehicles and machinery.
-
Scope 2: Indirect emissions from purchased electricity, heating, and cooling.
-
Scope 3: Indirect emissions from suppliers, transportation, waste, and product life cycles.
A full baseline carbon assessment will be completed by mid-2026 to quantify emissions and set and improve measurable reduction targets for each scope.
4. Carbon Reduction Strategy (2025–2030)
| Focus Area | Planned Actions | Target Outcome |
|---|---|---|
| Energy Efficiency | Complete building insulation and LED replacement; conduct energy audits on a regular basis. | Substantially reduce our energy use. |
| Renewable Energy | Expand solar installations following test results; explore battery storage and renewable energy contracts. | Continue to produce electricity from renewable sources. |
| Transportation | Transition company vehicles to hybrid or fully electric models; promote low-carbon logistics. | Further reduction our transport emissions. |
| Supply Chain | Work with overseas manufacturers to improve energy efficiency and ethical production standards. | Carbon footprint disclosure from all Tier 1 suppliers. |
| Waste Reduction | Implement circular economy principles (reuse, recycle metal waste, reduce packaging). | 90% waste diversion from landfill. |
| Employee Engagement | Staff training and “Green Champions” program to promote sustainable practices. | 100% staff awareness and participation. |
5. Offsetting and Carbon Neutrality
Continue to achieving maximum feasible emission reductions, any remaining emissions will be balanced through verified carbon offset projects, prioritising:
-
Renewable energy generation in developing regions.
-
Reforestation and biodiversity projects aligned with Gold Standard or Verified Carbon Standard (VCS).
6. Governance and Reporting
As a business we will:
-
Use our Sustainability Lead to oversee implementation and tracking use
-
Keep abreast of any new sustainability tactics
-
Use independent verification (where possible) to ensure accuracy
-

7. Long-Term Goals (2030–2040)
-
2030: Achieve carbon neutrality (Scope 1).
-
2035: 50% reduction in Scope 3 emissions.
-
2040: Achieve Net Zero across all operations where possible.
-
Continue innovation in sustainable materials and green manufacturing technologies.

-
Technological advancements (e.g., improved solar efficiency, electrical logistics).
-
Update carbon accounting data.
-
Implement evolving industry standards and best practices.
