Black Stainless Steel Socket Cup Point Set Screws from Carbolts
These socket cup point set screws - also known as grub screws - are manufactured using A2 grade stainless steel (304) to the DIN 916 / ISO 4029 specification with the Carbolts CB10 black oxide finish. The result is a permanent, black corrosion-resistant set screw that holds its look and its grip in even the most demanding environments. No rust, no flaking - no compromise on appearance or performance.
Grips from the inside out
The cup point set screw does something no standard bolt can - it locks a component in place entirely from within, with no exposed head breaking the surface. The concave cup point at the tip bites into the mating surface under torque, creating a secure mechanical grip that holds shafts, collars, pulleys and knobs firmly in position. The cup point distributes clamping pressure across its curved tip, giving a high resistance to loosening under vibration and a long service life.
Driven with a standard hex key or Allen bit through the internal socket, the screws sit completely flush or below the surface of the component they're installed in - leaving a perfectly clean, uninterrupted external profile. For applications where appearance matters as much as function does.
Our CB10 black stainless cup point set screws are a popular choice across custom automotive builds, motorcycle and bicycle components, fabricated brackets and clamps, motorsport assemblies, and precision engineering applications - basically anywhere a strong, concealed fixing that requires a clean black finish is part of the brief. They're equally well suited to furniture hardware, door and cabinet handles, knobs, and architectural metalwork where a flush, tool-accessible fixing is required.
Why CB10 and not painted black?
Standard painted black fasteners can chip the when a hex key engages the socket, leaving silver bare metal exposed at the very point most likely to be seen. The CB10 black finish is chemically bonded directly to the stainless steel surface - it is not a coating that sits on top and waits to be damaged. It is integral to the screw itself.
DIN 916 / ISO 4029 Specification
Supplied to DIN 916 / ISO 4029 with metric thread, available in various diameters and lengths. The headless design means these screws install completely below the surface, making them ideal wherever a flush or recessed fixing is required.
